The logistics then limits the squad too much! Sorry, but good try! K I counter good sir with.... Logistic Light Attack Vehicle. A heavy frame Logi would need transportation, like most heavies do. Plus, a Logi could run a mCRU to really support his team!
Quite true but then you become a sitting duck in that lovely open top cruiser, especially when you have to drive at walking speed! The logi works best on the medium suit it allows it the versatility required to run with a squad across multiple terrains! It allows getting to downed units faster, and still packs enough punch!
Not saying we couldn't have a heavy logi, as well![/quote]
A sitting duck to what? Even opening the hitbox on LAV drivers pretty much leaves them vulnerable to the same four prolems for them as before the change (Railguns, Blasters, Forge Guns and occasional snipers.) Any driver paying attention can see them on the mini-map and usually have one errant shot before they have to vacate. Also, probably a good chunk of people I see driving Logi LAVs are heavies; it's the simplest way for them to get around 1000m maps quickly. Plus they soak ridiculous amounts of damage (I.E. dumb red berries who think an SMG can kill a driver by shooting him but waste clips shooting the turret.) I've seen a couple lucky AVs and Swarm Launchers do the trick, but it isn't reliable.
BTW: A good question occurred to me for anyone who complains that a Logi would cripple the team by being slower: where else should your medic class be? I understand that a Logi should be able to defend themselves but to be able to outrun assault suits while having more slots leaves much to be desired for your tactical attack classes... like Assault and "Commando" suits. Commando indicates that they'd be a shock trooper type of dropsuit, giving you the ability to wreak havoc with a run and gun play style. But simply, running at the speed of a beached whale isn't conducive to wanting to spend SP on it. Especially since it'll cost you over 2m SP to run one that actually has slots; meaning the bonus is wasted on STD and even ADV Commandos.
Oh and guns have nothing on Orbitals. Just saying. |
